Rainy Day Photo Session | Alexis
For some crazy reason, Texas has been extremely rainy the last couple years. Like lakes and parks are still flooded from last year kind of rain. Its wet, extremely wet. And somehow, extremely hot. All this rain does nothing to keep the heat at bay, but does give us the added bonus of extreme humidity so theirs that. But you know, this isn’t a weather blog, and if you live here, you know.
Alexis needed photos for her sorority recruitment application, but we were on a bit of a timeline. I was heading on vacation and she needed them rather quickly. We had scheduled for a Tuesday at my favorite backlit field, and it rained. All day, and all evening. Luckily she was a total sport and was more than willing to still hold the session if we got creative. So there was enough light outside to get some great portraits if we could find shelter. So we started in a parking garage to get more traditional portraits, and once we had those I asked her if she was up for dancing in the rain. I am SSSOOOO happy she said yes! These are some of the most fun images I have taken.
The blue wall was totally Alexis’ find. It was right outside the parking garage we were shooting in and it was perfect! The cloud cover didn’t quite hit the horizon, so just as the sun was setting we headed to the top of the parking garage and captured just a bit of that sunset and it was glorious. By this point it was barely drizzling, but there were many wonderful puddles for splashing.
Its so much fun to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. I am so happy with these images and I hope Alexis cherishes them for many years!
