Glamour Session | Kristy

Glamour sessions are my absolute favorite!  Forget the sequined denim jacket, teased bangs and overdone makeup.  Modern glamour sessions are all about MODERN beauty.  While day to day I may live in yoga pants and bras without underwire, I love all things girlie.  Given the opportunity I love to put on a full face of makeup and something sparkly and hit the town.  And thats what glamour sessions are about, stepping outside your daily self and getting dolled up.

I’ve been working hard to show you what I mean when I talk about glamour sessions.  A while back I did a model call for 3 girls willing to let me show them how beautiful they are.  First up, Kristy.  Kristy is a fellow photographer and teacher.  When she replied to my model call I knew she would be great.

I asked Kristy what makes someone beautiful.  Her response could not have been more perfect.

I do not think any one thing makes a person beautiful. There is someone intangible that often makes a person appear beautiful. Some light from their eyes or smile or laugh, the way life experience shows when a person cries (yes – I’m the creepy person who often finds sadness beautiful too), the shape of hands, slope of a neck…so many things make a person beautiful. But confidence and vulnerability probably stand out as being two things that truly make a person photographically beautiful.

My favorite part of this session was when she pulled out a green sweater. She thought it would be fun to have a glamour session in a piece that was already a favorite in her closet. I LOVED it!  I use the word glamour because its fun to be dolled up, but I feel very passionately about everyday glamour.  Its not all ball gowns, lace and sequins.  I want women to fell amazing just the way they are, the makeup and hair, its just for fun!www.lindseyrabon.com

When I sent Kristy my standard questionnaire, I simply asked “Do you think you are beautiful?”  Again, she eloquently answered with very powerful words

I don’t usually ever feel beautiful. I’ve spent most of my life hiding in shield of clothing. I feel helpful or inspired or adventurous or goofy or empowered, but I’ve never really felt “beautiful”. That isn’t to say I haven’t thought I looked pretty or strong in a photo before. Beautiful just isn’t a bucket I find myself.

Kristy,

You are strong, intelligent and beautiful.  I love all of your images.  I hope you had the most amazing experience and you can check beauty off your “bucket” list. :)
