Arbor Hills Senior Portrait Session | Hailee

The story of how Hailee’s senior portrait session ended up at Arbor Hills is quite funny, in fact just getting to her senior session at all was nothing short of a miracle (I exaggerate)! You know when you meet people, and you instantly connect, you have so much to talk about and you just click. Well that was how it was when I met Hailee and her mom. We had instant chemistry and I was so excited they chose me to capture this moment in her life.

So as with all my sessions, we had designed her session and decided we would head to Bishop Arts District. I offer all my clients a wardrobe consultation for their session, and offer to meet them at their home to cover over what they have chosen and narrow it down. Its important that we do this together, because I want your style to shine through and you need to love your outfit selection, but I also know what photographs well. So its there perfect balance of your style and what makes you feel amazing and what comes through the camera. After seeing her wardrobe selection, I just know an urban setting wouldn’t be quite right, and so we headed to Arbor Hills, with a pitstop at Prestonwood Baptist Church for the black dress shots.

So I know you have heard my say this before, it is extremely important to me that all of my senior clients bring something that helps to define who they are as a person, and its not all glam and beauty. Thats part of the fun, to capture your beautiful self but also who you are as a person. Hailee is a singer, and when I found this vintage microphone for rent at Rent my DustR I knew we had to use it. It was absolutely perfect.

We had originally scheduled her session for mid February, but weather totally threw a wrench in our plans. And it was so difficult to find a different date that worked for both of us. But we settles on a week night in April. You know, the month where it rains every day. It was one of those weeks where it was torrential rains and I know we were both on the edge of our seats that morning. But the weather turned out perfectly, it was the right mix of cool weather after the rain, and warm summer air. I really couldn’t have wished for better weather.

One thing I love about Arbor Hills is the variety. Nature is so perfect as is, I love being about to use it to beautify my images. We made sure to check out all the best spots for light, and made our way down the the creek.

I shot so many urban images this past year, it was refreshing to get back to beautiful greens and sunlight.
